January 12th Update
Dear MCC Family,
After Pastor Phil’s announcement yesterday, we would like to explain how Montgomery Community Church (MCC) will select our next Lead Pastor. The search process will be guided by our vision to be a diverse community seeing future generations transformed by the Gospel and by the church constitution.
Step 1: Establish Lead Pastor Calling Committee
The Lead Pastor Calling Committee is a group of elected individuals who will facilitate the search process and recommend a candidate for Lead Pastor. The Nominating Committee is responsible for selecting the members of the Lead Pastor Calling Committee and presenting them to the congregation for a vote.
Step 2: Conduct Congregation Listening Sessions
The Lead Pastor Calling Committee will hold congregation listening sessions. These sessions will provide opportunities for the members of the congregation to share feedback with the committee. This step ensures the search reflects the heart and direction of the congregation.
Step 3: Candidate Search & Examination
The Lead Pastor Calling Committee will oversee the search process. This includes:
Receiving and reviewing potential candidates
Prayerful discernment and interviews
Reference and background checks
Ongoing prayer and discussion together
Throughout this phase, the congregation will receive regular updates so you remain informed and engaged.
Step 4: Lead Pastor Call
When the Lead Pastor Calling Committee has identified a candidate, the candidate will be introduced to the congregation, and a formal congregational vote will be held to affirm the call of the next Lead Pastor.
Once a Lead Pastor is called and affirmed by congregational vote, that will complete a faithful transition into the next chapter of ministry at MCC.
